Pharmacy Technician - Part Time - Weekends Only

Position Goals

This job description for the Pharmacy Technician at Hospitality Health ER provides criteria for the evaluation of the Pharmacy Technician position. The Pharmacy Technician at Hospitality Health ER functions include maintaining pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, and removing outdated drugs. The Pharmacy Technician maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Manager of Facility Services, the Pharmacy Technician at Infinite Hospital Services will be responsible for, but not limited to:

1. Creating and maintaining a patient centered focus by engaging in a positive working relationship with all patients, visitors, and staff of the facility

2. Stocking each assigned location with medications

3. Stocking medical carts and cabinets at all locations

4. Monitoring refrigerated medications, making sure they are up to date, and not expired, and stocked

5. Rotating medications when stocking and verify medications have expiration date stickers on them

6. Checking temperature logs at each location daily

7. Checking crash cart check offs at each location; Notifying Charge Lead Nurse if crash carts have not been checked off

8. Stocking new medications received in pharmacy storage

9. Labeling all new medications with expiration date stickers and rotating older medications forward and stocking new medications in the back

10. Cleaning and maintaining medical rooms and pharmacies, to ensure they are free of clutter, cardboard, etc.

11. Checking the ENT, EYE, RSI, Dental, Pneumothorax, Hypothermia, STEMI, and Anaphylaxis box and ensure it is stocked and medications are not expired.

12. Ensuring expiration dots on outside of medical carts at all locations are up to date

13. Monthly:

  • Check crash carts for expiration dates on medications and supplies
  • Check all boxes for expiration dates on medications
  • Make sure check off sheets are up to date.

14. Pulling all expired medications, a month in advance and replacing with new

15. Meeting the requirements of applicable federal, state and local regulatory guidelines

16. Other duties assigned

Position Requirements
The requirements for employment with Hospitality Health ER are:
1. The Pharmacy Technician will have strong communication skills and display a positive attitude and passion for Hospitality Health ER
2. The Pharmacy Technician will maintain flexibility and availability for on‐call and any coverage requirements that are not otherwise met by the Pharmacy Department staff
3. Customer service experience; demonstrated ability in customer service practice related to direct patient care in a high volume, high stress environment
4. Critical thinking skills; ability to work autonomously and make efficient use of time and resources
5. Understanding of clinical care and privacy
6. Integrity and responsibility; will have access to company credit card and petty cash, and the company vehicle
7. Current driver’s license with no restrictions
8. Ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and physicians
9. Ability to listen and follow directions
10. Ability to work unsupervised; Willingness to take initiative and ability to work as a team member/independently
to perform job responsibilities and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
11. Demonstrated competency of Physical Assessment within 90 days, as evaluated by Manager of Facility Services

Education/Experience
High School Graduate/Equivalent
Previous experience, direct patient care preferred
Ability to read, speak, and write the English language
Pharmacy Technician License issued by TSBP in Current status
